What it is
Top of Answer is for teams that don't want to build and maintain AI visibility tracking themselves. We ask your buyers' questions on six AI engines, keep the full history, and show what changed after you act. Your first report is ready in a few minutes; weekly tracking follows the same questions and settings over time. See an example report.
AI visibility is how often AI assistants mention your brand, where they rank it, and whether they cite your website when buyers ask for recommendations. AI answers usually name only three or four brands, so being on that short list matters more than ranking on page one. Read the guide.
GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) and AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) are two names for the same goal: getting your brand mentioned and cited in AI answers. Top of Answer measures where you stand today so you know what to improve.
SEO aims to rank your pages in search results; GEO aims to get your brand named inside the answer itself. They work together: AI assistants that search the web lean on pages that already rank, plus review sites, forums and comparison articles.
Buyers now ask ChatGPT or Google's AI Mode for a shortlist before they open a single website. If you are not in that answer, you never get the visit, and your analytics never show the loss.
How it works
We track six: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude with live web search on, plus Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode. Weekly tracking runs your questions on all six, with no add-ons; the free first check uses four.
You enter your website; we suggest your category, competitors and 10 questions your buyers would ask, and you can edit them. We then ask each question on each engine in your check and analyze every answer for mentions, position, citations and tone.
The report shows your visibility score, share of voice against competitors, average position and citation rate, plus a question-by-engine heatmap. It also shows who AI recommends instead of you and why, which sites it cites, the searches AI ran in the background, and evidence-based next steps. Add recommendations to My plan, mark them done, and see what changed afterwards on the linked questions. Change alerts include reasons drawn from the saved answers. See an example report.
Usually a few minutes. You can close the page while it runs; we email you when the report is ready.
Yes. The report assistant answers questions like "Why am I not recommended?" using only the data from your check, and drafts next steps such as a comparison page outline.
You can run checks with questions in English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, and Portuguese. For Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, you can choose the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Turkey.
Gemini results come from the Gemini API, which is not the same as the AI Overview shown in Google Search. Google AI Overviews and AI Mode results come from live Google searches, so they reflect what searchers actually see.
Comparisons
You can, and a single check is fine. Maintaining weekly checks across six engines with the same settings, saving every answer and source, and keeping it working through provider changes takes ongoing work. Top of Answer keeps comparable history and turns the answers into evidence-based next steps without that maintenance.
Top of Answer tracks six engines, including Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, and your first check is free with no credit card (10 questions on 4 engines). Some tools limit entry plans to a few engines; with Top of Answer you see all six side by side in one report.
Top of Answer includes Claude, Gemini and Google AI Mode in every check rather than as paid add-ons. You also get the full answers, the sources AI cites and next steps in the same report.
Top of Answer is self-serve: no sales call, no onboarding, results in minutes. Enterprise platforms add services, content agents and custom contracts, which suit large teams with bigger budgets.
Yes. SEO tools show how your pages rank in search results; Top of Answer shows what AI assistants actually say about your brand. The two answer different questions and work best together.
Who it's for
Any brand whose buyers ask AI before they buy, especially teams that don't want to build and maintain tracking themselves. Marketing and brand teams use it to see how ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Google's AI answers describe them. E-commerce teams use the shopping questions and product page checks. SEO and content teams use the cited sources to plan content. Agencies can use it to show a client where they stand and what changed; multi-client workspaces are Soon.
Yes. For e-commerce categories we suggest shopping questions like "best running shoes under $100" or "where to buy", and our free check tests whether AI can read your product price, stock and reviews. See Top of Answer for e-commerce.
Agencies can run a check per client brand today. Multi-brand tracking for agencies is on our roadmap; contact us to join the early group.
Our free AI crawler check tells you in about 10 seconds whether ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google bots can access your site, with no sign-up. It checks robots.txt rules, firewall blocks, llms.txt and whether your content is readable without JavaScript. Test your site.
Pricing and buying
Your first check is free, with no credit card: 10 questions on 4 AI engines, with full answers, sources, recommendations and the report assistant. You are never charged unless you choose a paid option.
We plan a weekly tracking plan at $29/month for 10 questions, with a founding price of $19/month for the first 100 customers, locked for 12 months. You can also pay per check: $9 for one check or $29 for five. Nothing is charged yet during the beta; we'll email you when paid options open.
Weekly tracking asks the same questions on the same engines with the same settings, keeps every answer and source, and shows reason-backed change alerts. My plan lets you mark work done and compare before/after on linked questions without implying causation. Weekly access is currently available to founding members during beta; join the list for paid options.
No one can guarantee that. We show where you stand, which competitors win and which sources AI trusts, so you can decide what to improve.
Trust and data
We measure what AI engines actually answer; we don't claim access to their ranking systems. AI answers vary, so each report records exactly what every engine said at the time of the check, and you can open every answer with its sources.
AI answers depend on the engine, the exact wording, location, date and the pages the engine finds while searching. That is why we ask the same questions on six engines and why weekly tracking shows trends better than a single check.
Your projects and reports are private to your account. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and which providers process it.
Add evidence-based recommendations to your plan, mark them done when you ship, and optionally save the published URL. Your trend chart marks the done date, and linked questions show before/after visibility and position. These observations show what happened afterwards, not what caused it.
Change alerts compare successful answers for the same question and engine with your previous check. They show gains, drops, competitor changes and citations, with reasons drawn from stored answers where the evidence supports one. Model changes are marked separately rather than treated as a visibility win or loss.
Yes, optionally. Click Add to Slack in Settings and choose a channel. The summary includes four metrics, the biggest win, a watch item with its reason, completed plan items and a next step. Slack summaries are available to founding members during beta. You can disconnect at any time.
AI engines change models and APIs often. We maintain the setup and keep a measurement changelog in Settings, with method-change markers on your trend chart so you can read your history fairly.
